This is a follow up to my first question on knock off hand bags. There are alot of people selling knock off handbags and in fact I went to a home party for assorted knock off bags They are sold all over down town NYC and those vendors get anywhere from $50 to $125. I read in the paper that they are illegal and you can spend time in jail if you are caught with them.

I believe the bags are only illegal if they have the the same or a substantially similar logo or pattern. Thus, if the bag say Gucci, and is not, it's illegal. If it looks just like the same bag, but says Gnocci, it's ok.

No, and it should not be. But if you sell them, it is illegal.

You, as a consumer should have freedom to buy whatever brand you want to buy, even if you know it is a knock-off.
